Before I start with travel stories I have here a picture of the people who dropped me of on schiphol. Thanks to you guys and the fact there where other people coming with me as well I felt confident to go. Thanks a lot for taking me. I really appreciated it.

Then of course the group of people I was going with. All very nice people, I’m going to know better in a few days. I already explained who they were in the post about Singapore.

Well, this was a trip to experience. After Singapore we got to Brisbane, which was to our surprise rather wet. Rain season had started. The flight was because of the weather rather bumpy. Again a few hours between the connecting flights left the VSO group waiting in Brisbane in anticipation of PNG. Finally we got to step into the plane to Port Moresby. It was rather hot after the beginning of autumn in the Netherlands. All went well, I didn’t have any custom problems. But then we wanted to take the plane to Madang. Unfortunately there was a technical problem of some kind so we had to return to Port Moresby within the hour. We were told that the next flight would be next morning around 4.30 am. In the mean time we were given accommodations in the Crown plaza, of course paid by the airport as an apology. This was a really fancy hotel in the center of Port Moresby.

After a very nice diner and a shower, the bed was waiting for me. I laid down and slept immediately. At 2.30am the phone rang to wake up and come down to the airport. This time the flight took us straight to Madang. We met some other VSO people on the airport and were taken to the Madang lodge. This lodge is going to be a very comfortable place for the coming two weeks.

In the morning after breakfast I went snorkeling. It was really amazing. The thinks discovery channel shows you really exist. A coral reef with colorful fish, crabs and anemone. The weather in Madang is quite hot, about 35 degrees Celsius. The scenery in Madang is just great.
