Halihalo

I’m going to tell you about some of the things I’m doing at the moment. It’s not going to be a beautiful story.
You cannot imagine how much fun it is to write a story to you on my own laptop. Yes, the program manager I had until the end of February left me with his laptop. You can see that my workplace looks much more professional with the laptop. And now I can listen to the music I brought with me. While I’m writing this story I’m listening to Herbie Hancock (nice jazz for who does not know it).

Seriously, this comes in really handy. Now I don’t have to go to the library of the hospital all the time. Although I still hope that the hospital will give this department a computer, because the laptop cannot be connected to the network they are about to setup here. To a semi nerd as I am this all sounds very exciting.
This week I’ll move to my new house. Yesterday an electric company installed a new stand-by generator. Hopefully a water tank won’t take that long either, because this week the water pressure was a mess again.
This Friday we (that is the people from the physiotherapy department) are going to organize an open day. I worked on a flyer in tok pisin. I was really proud when I finished it. I did not actually make a lot of mistakes I found out, when I let my colleagues check the flyer. I was very proud of this achievement.
You can find the flyer here.
I noticed that learning a new language is hard nowadays. Either I am very conscious of this process or it is actually going slow. Now after 6 month I can say that I still cannot speak it fluently. People say I am really fast, but to me it feels slow. Anyway it will come, because I still notice progress.
Some people of my kickboxing club like me to go to Madang. In two weeks there is going to be a tournament where they want me to compete. So on Friday they put me up against some experienced fighters for sparring. This will give me experience. But what it also gives me is pain. Nice pain nevertheless, because my body hasn’t felt this strong since I was doing Aikido at the age of 20.
I was a little late when taking this picture. So you can only see a little black eye.

Rest assured, I going to get back at him. In a sporty kind of way of course. Well, that was it. See you next time.

  1. Damn… nice eye… :-)

And what a cool flyer !

I’m so damn proud of you…
You are doing well, experiencing ups and downs over there… but that’s life… your web-stories show that the real sjroep came back… i read them every day..

Live LIFE to the MAX mate.

    Hau weg die Scheisse !

  2. well sjoerd, keep on practising. I (still the linguist here!) did see some spellingmistakes, some inversion errors, wrong usage of affix’s, and mind the conjugation errors….

fucking hell, looks impressive. me proud too!

  3. and my english is becoming horrible, but well i’m really really tired (yup working too hard again…) so let’s keep it on that.

  4. Sorry about those grammar failures. It’s kind of busy here. I update my website whenever I do my daily emailing. I needed to write the story this week in a hurry. I’m moving to the other house plus the open day. Kind of hectic. But I am living life to the max T. Thnx buddy.

  5. Hey lieve Sjoerd,

Kus

  6. jesus, didn’t you get my joke….We’ve been apart too long….I meant that you tok pisin was full with errors…you know, since my tok pisin is that great…

    mumpfff ;-0

I suggest that you do an introduction on your new house as well, same like before….we need those pictures, we want those pictures: let us see your new place so we can do ‘aaaaahhhh, ooooohhhh, niceeeeeesss’. Since we are talking about moving: I have to leave the house as well, soonish…
