The big move

Every time I move I think that I only have a little property to move. Again and again I’m disappointed by the amount of stuff I’m able to accumulate. Now in PNG I thought that I would single-handedly move everything from my old house to my new house. How much can a volunteer have do I hear you think? I was in for a nasty surprise, again. So when I started to gather everything I called out for the neighbour to help me. So now it’s evening and I just prepared a guacamole from some avocados I picked and eating them, while typing this page. Agatha, my mother in PNG (I always seem to have extra mothers everywhere), has an avocado tree in her garden. Let’s take a short detour, before I’m going to talk about what I actually wanted to talk about.
I still have to get used to the fact that I don’t have to go to the supermarket and pay ridiculous prices for exotic fruit. I’m just going to mention some of the things I found in my garden. I need to sum up the stuff in my garden I saw with my layman’s eyes. I have al kinds of flowers most of which I don’t even know their names. For instance, I seem to have a frenchipani tree. They seem to very nice. But what I see in my garden is enough to give a botanist red ears. If I want to have guava I have the choice between white and pink guava (I didn’t even know there was a difference). Same thing goes for bananas, although I have eaten most of them during my short stay already. If I want a huge grapefruit for breakfast I just need a long stick, the same for papaya. When I’m in the mood for some spicy curry I have chili in my garden and fresh ginger.
Why am I talking about this? To make the people who where not jealous yet change their minds. Of course I want to invite everybody over in this wonderful country.
Enough said about my garden, the detour is over.
Let’s go to my new house for a change. Somebody wanted new pictures of my house now that it’s decorated. I hear everywhere that the art of picture taking is something you can learn if you just commit yourself and take a lot of pictures. My commitment must be questionable, because I still don’t find them artsy enough. But I found a solution in the form of Joanna. Seeing her background (media) she must be able to take some descent pictures from my house. So here we go and see for yourself.

This is where is come in when I want to enter my house.

So here I am. If you enter the house you come into the beginning of my living room, which is shaped like a L.

Next to this part of the living room is the kitchen.

More living room.

And even more livingroom.

The hall that leads to the bathroom and bedrooms.

The other bedrooms are boring. So only my bedroom deserved a picture.

Then we go outside to the veranda and we see the happy house owner again.

To make more sense out of these pictures I made a bitmap of my house. You can download it here.

Well that’s it. I’m going to have my first shower in a solar powered shower and after that I am going to sleep.
