Yesterday I had a coarse in strategic coaching. In the morning we talked about the theory behind this concept. Basically you want to be able to facilitate people into understanding what their problem is and how to resolve it. The best thing is that you need to keep on clarifying a person’s thoughts so he or she can come up with a solution. Don’t try to interfere with your own thoughts or give too much advise. The person in front of you usually cannot use your solutions.
Since I was having an energy dip since two months and some physical ailments that didn’t go away I decided to do what I do best; talk about myself and see where it would take me. We used a door matrix.
First you list facts, then you list your problems and then you write down what you want. From this you make an action plan. It took me together with five colleagues 1 1/2 hours to fill it out (Dutch).
But what it did was magnificent. It clarified so much.
Why for instant I felt so happy in South Africa or Papua New Guinea. On a professional level I seek out experienced people that I can look up to. Unfortunately I expect myself to be the same right away. In development countries I had a lot of lovely people around me, but no one with my experience. Very safe, but not realistic.
It clarified why I am feeling so tired lately. I use a lot of energy on the why-question? Why can’t I do this, why can’t I do that?
So I decided I have to recognise when I expect to much. When I recognise this I can then decide to either do something with it or not. Easier that way.

Great to see that such things work. The solutions you find sound ehh rather recognizable to what I think about my own situation sometimes I must say.
