A dissertation

My brother in law finished his dissertation.

Thinking myself somewhat of a chemistry enthusiast and wanting to prepare for his presentation I decided to read it. Index done, ok so far. First page…no not possible to read, second page no, third page no. Damn, I’ll try the Dutch summary. Jeeezzz, I think it’s about membrane transport. In function it could filter salt from water. Pretty cool I reckon.

  1. Brother-in-law?? I see no ring on your sisters fingers!

By the way, Sjoerd. Besides my supervisor you may very well be the only one who actually tried to read it.

  2. I want one!! Cool!

Sjoerd, it is ok. You know Catherine, right? Well she and I both studied linguistics and when Catherine handed in her Master thesis her boyfriend asked me to read it and explain to him in plain language what it meant. I started reading and got lost after page 2. Syntaxis, horrible subject. Luckily her PhD is about something I do understand…

  3. You will get one (if you haven’t already received it). I read the whole thing, from introduction until the last chapter. Cool huh?

  4. Pretty cool. I had a guy over last week who did an interview with me regarding living in Nijmegen. When he came in and I asked him to sit down he saw Gerrit’s dissertation. His remark was:”ah, light bedtime reading material”.
Now I’m thinking of ways to impress people by having the dissertation lying around in a very casual way…

  5. I got it too: beautiful pictures if I may say so ;-)

And, last time I checked, I didnt have a ring on my finger either; there is only 1 Jongerius is Christchurch…
