Two things

First of all the screws I had in my ankle are out. A little hiccup occurred though. The surgeon put several needles of anesthetic into the skin and opened the outside of my ankle. The first screw came out.

Then the second came out.

Or so I thought. Apparently the second one is broken off. X-ray showed that the broken screw will not damage the joint. Since I thought the screw that was broken off was pushing through to the other side the surgeon decided to explore the other side as well to see if it would cause any problems in the future. He decided there would be no problem so he stitched me up again. So now everybody is happy. Although I have to say I’m very happy. I complained of not having a man scar before. Now I have two scars plus a piece of metal in my leg. How cool is that?

In the afternoon a dear friend of mine had to defend his dissertation. Miko has work hard on his thesis and has earned his doctorate. After defending his work for an hour in a very eloquent way the assembly of professors and doctors decided to make him a peer.

Congratulations to you Miko.

  1. Tssss. One and a half screw is so much tougher. I’m not even talking about two scars.

    Six stitches on one side

    And six on the other…

  2. De prachtige kleuren komen weer door het ontsmettingsspul. En natuurlijk komt de link onder de naam van Miko op de site van Miko. Dat was de bedoeling.

  3. You’re right.. it’s way cooler having 2 man scars *and* a piece of shrapnel.

I was at a party a while ago where someone started up a conversation where everyone had to talk about a scar they had.

I think you should start doing that too ;)

  4. Let’s see.

  5. I slit 3/4 of my achilles tendon when I cracked the glass of painting with the back of my head
  6. when I collided with a car while driving my motorbike I tore off my right clavicula from my scapula
  7. a friend shot me through my upper lip with an air rifle
  8. during kickboxing a tow on my right foot blew up the size of a melon so doctors had to had to cut it open to remove the puss
  9. I fell from the stairs as a child and doctors believed I had cracked my skull
  10. a friend pushed a glowing poker on my left shoulder
  11. while jumping over barbed wire it tore over my left thigh
  12. as a child I was sliding on my knees in the supermarket in a cracked bottle
  13. chopped off the tip of my left thumb with a knife
  14. Other stuff too small to mention.

  15. And again my foot couldn’t cure itself. The doc took out the stitches one week early due to puss build-up inside plus he put me on anti-antibiotics.
Resting now with a feverish head…
