I was cleaning out my old room, because my parents wanted to put a new carpet on the floor. While cleaning up I found a photo book I got from my friends when leaving South Africa. I decided to scan them so I’d have them digital. For the people that went there with me; enjoy. Others; enjoy as well.
I met a lot of people, but these were the most important ones.
I went to South Africa in August 2000 to do a clinical placement via UWC (University of the Western Cape) together with Anne. What was supposed to be a three month period, became a trip to self discovery in about 8 months. I sometimes think back to that time and feel the closeness of my friends and the great things we did.
UWC has got a long history into the olden days where apartheid still dictated that black people had to do as they were told. My first experience in a setting where being white meant you were the odd one out.
The physiotherapy department looked like this:
We had cars and we went on road trips whenever possible with whomever wanted to go.
South Africa is beautiful; where ever you go.
