Fairytale wedding

I’m invited for a traditional Cambodian wedding in France. My namesake is going to marry there. I got this beautiful invitation.

Sjoerd has to perform a traditional dance during the wedding. The whole of his group of friends in Nijmegen is going to attend so I’m sure we’ll be able to make fun of him while we are there. Not too obvious though since there are going to be rather distinguished guests.

Long time friend

I know ‘][' for 22 years.

After we left our hometowns to find a proper education so we could be proper members of our society, we never lived in the same place again. Up until now. '][' chose to come and live in the most beautiful city in the Netherlands; Nijmegen.

Ice skating

skating

Yesterday I went out with Bart to do some skating. I hadn’t skated in ages. I could notice little crackling feelings when I was going around in circles. Later on I found out why…my skates are so old that the plastic was actually cracking up.
But it was wonderful to be out on a lake doing rounds and trying to do tricks.

Wonderful and shitty

Friday after work I drove to Froukje. After a lovely diner we decided to go to a pub for a drink. One drink became two, became three, etc…
This morning we slept in, had some breakfast, slept some more, did some chatting and finally…had a nap. I can say I am thoroughly rested now.

In the evening I wanted to go to Merijn and help him out with his mother’s house. I went to my car and what do you know? Somebody smashed in a window and took out my tomtom. I know, I shouldn’t have left it in the car. To whoever did it, I hope you enjoy it.
Luckily somebody came over to put in a temporary window, because he did not have a new one for my Yaris.

This gave me a chance to meet a friend Froukje who I otherwise wouldn’t have met.

Extreme energy burners

How to describe the last three days?

Friday morning I had a team meeting and things did not go all to well (see complex).

That same morning a very good friend rings me to tell me his mother died of cancer. The weird thing was that it started a month ago with psychological symptoms. She was being treated for a depression. Last Thursday her children take her to the hospital, because she was feeling tired and lightheaded. A day later she passed away, because of unnoticed terminal cancer. I cannot for the life of me understand how terminal cancer can go unnoticed until the last day. I went to him and spend Friday and Saturday with him and his family.

Saturday evening he wanted to go back to Nijmegen to get some clothes and spend some time alone. On the way back we decided to take a detour to our friends. Once a year we gather with 20 something people, rent three houses and have a grand time. It was heartwarming to see how much support we got on arriving.
