That is the cool thing about living in a living community. When you are in a bathroom you can always solve puzzles together. There’s always someone who knows that troublesome 7 letter word starting with a p.

Leaving the brons and Götterfunken
Nynke left our living community to live by herself and Johanka is going to leave us. So we decided to take them to Utrecht to a performance of Götterfunken and some food later on.
The trip was worth while making, because Nynke made us perform a position used in a Viagra advertisement.
Sorry to all you people going from Nijmegen to Utrecht yesterday afternoon. Just remember we had fun.
The illustrator of the group Götterfunken (Geert) lives in our community. As you can see on the picture I made Geert projects stills on a screen. He showed pictures, a movie clip on his camera and a lot of drawings.
It’s a tip to go and see them. The mix of contemporary music together with Geert’s drawings is really nice.
And afterwards the queens were taken to the ACU vegan and squatters restaurant in Utrecht. Awesome food and nice atmosphere.

To Tecklenburg
Heleen, Merijn and I are going to cycle in Germany (near Osnabrück) with some other people. I bought a bike carrier for the occasion.

Awesome, because you don’t need a tow bar on your car. You can fixate it on the back cover of your car.
Here you can see it through my rear window. There is a face in the way. Just imagine it not being there…
Special beers
My group of friends decided to go on a tour of breweries in Belgium. Being a fan of special Belgium beers I decided to join. We visited two breweries.
The Carolus brewery
The Carolus brewery clearly was the more commercial of the two. It had a nice tour, there was a hotel, there were the old copper kettles, basically it looked it’s part. The beer tasted nice. Unfortunately I had to drive so I only tasted a sip.
The Boon brewery
At the Boon brewery we saw a “modern” facility at work. I was kind of dirty, full of moulds and spider cobs. Apparently it’s good for the beer that is in the process of fermentation. A famous beer that’s being brewed here is called gueuze. It’s too sour for my taste, but it’s supposed to be an acquired taste.
We ended the tour in Leuven, where we stayed over at another friends place. Back home I restocked my wine crates (used to be from Maaike) with special beers.
Chess
‘][‘ has a new baby called Jimmy. I have it from a reliable source that one is busy, especially when it’s the second child. I’m busy with work and studies. In short, when we want to see each other we play therapeutic chess. Due to the amount of talking we only play one game. As you can see in the pictures it’s obviously who has won.
Djembee plant
Back in 2000 I lived in Sout Africa with Bart. Bart decided it would be a good idea to teach me how to play the djembee. A fruitless endeavour as I found out. We had much fun, but I’m just not cut out to be a musician. Dutch extreme weather changes made the goat skin brittle, so it burst eventually. My house mates bought me a plant and Heleen put it in. Nice eh?

Random stuff
Before yesterday
Nice. Winter seems to have struck early again this year.
Within two days from temperatures around 10 to -1 degrees Celcius. Awesome! Note to self; don’t walk with bicycle in snow after having imbibed alcohol.
Yesterday
We, men of the house, had a dinner together. This means manly food. Something went wrong with desert though.
This desert certainly looks awful, but tastes nice actually. It contains yoghurt, strawberry marmalade, chocolate sauce and whipped cream.
Today
On Tuesdays I walk for about an hour. Today I was walking along a dike when I heard this voice asking me for help. I looked down and saw this farmer standing near a not so sturdy looking fence with a rather agitated cow. Apparently this huge bovine was able to scale fences, even when they were 1,50m high. It had been roaming around the neighbourhood. His farm hand was getting a trailer to take the cow into the stable. He was wondering whether or not I could help him keep the cow in the fenced in area. Of course I gave him a hand. After half an hour the frikkin’ cow was in the trailer. I froze my ass off…
To Limburg
My parents seem to like it when I introduce my friends to them. So I took some of them to the beautiful south. As my parents have a nice big house with a nice big (read huge to Dutch understanding) garden my friends were thoroughly impressed. In the absence of a barbecue we dug a pit, put four poles around and stuck some chicken wire on it. Et voila, a good way to char the meat.
The next morning we went site seeing in a graveyard in Roermond and we took a walk in the forest near my parents house.
