Gone

My wallet, driving license and passport are missing. I think they got stolen at my work, but I don’t want to dwell on it. I would hate it if I found out that somebody I’ve been helping stole my stuff. Today I went to the police to get a letter saying I lost my papers. Then I had to go to city hall to tell them that I lost my papers, prove that I was me, pay 150 euro’s and wait for 5 workdays. I surely hope by next Thursday everything is in order, because Friday I have to go to France for a wedding.

Leuven

This weekend I went to Leuven with two friends (Paulina and Marieke) to visit two other friends (Inge and Marcio). Back in 2005 Inge decided to take Marcio (a handsome looking guy from Fortaleza) back to the Netherlands. In Nijmegen I trained with Marcio just before I left for Papua New Guinea. It was really nice to work with a guy who could not speak a word of Dutch and use sports as a way of communication. I have some fond memories of those times. Now in 2009 Inge and Marcio live in Leuven Belgium.

Leuven

It was fantastic weather during the weekend in Leuven. Good for Marcio, because he was invited to host a few workshops on capoeira during the time the center of Leuven was “car free“. He’s making quite a name for himself. I was invited to join the demonstrations. After three hours of capoeira on the streets of Leuven I had:
- bloody feet
- red face
- an energy level of a sloth
- loads of fun!

A round of ferries

I am an exemplary son. Ask my parents and they’ll probably concur. Well on this blog they’ll probably verbally abuse me, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. Maybe I’m not actually; I forgot to buy my mom a present when she had her birthday. This was in December. So I gave her a mama day in Nijmegen. Since my mom is an outdoorsy kind of mom I decided to take her on a round of ferries.
The weather was fine and the view perfect.

Physical skill test

politie

Today I drove to Leusden (Amersfoort) to a training facility of the Dutch police force. Somebody from the OCA management arranged for us (OCA employees) to take the physical skill test police officers can do to prove their fitness. For males the time is set at 3 minutes and 19 seconds. It took me 2 minutes and 50 seconds to get to the finish. If you give it your best you’ll have wobbly legs at the end for sure.

A non wedding

What do you do when you don’t want to get married, but actually you do? You register at city hall and you throw a party. After a day of hard work I drove to the place where a barbecue was being held. Funny bbq though…

After dinner, several beers, bubblies the guests flocked together to chant an ancient song to wish the non married coupled luck with the rest of their lives.

And finally the ones it was all about; Bart and Lyke.

Good for the environment

Others might think you’re a snail,

but you get very good mileage out a speed like that.

Good for the environment and for my wallet.

Betraying my believes

Some time ago I told you I spilled tea on my laptop. I boasted about my mac being able to survive such a vicious attack. Now it seems that my precious mac has not survived the rooibos tea which I poured over it’s keyboard. To my ultimate humiliation I borrowed a wind**, a different computer for the time being.
